Handmade Especially For You

I design and knit every Bow Tie, Suspenders, Tie, Mini Bow Tie Pin and Necklace in my garden studio in Amsterdam using sustainable yarns.
I knit your final piece using a hand powered domestic knitting machine from the late 1970's. No electricity, just careful, considerate handcraft.
Together we create a design brief and I get to work, knitting you a unique, handmade detail, a tailored accent that will forever be a symbol of the memories you make that day, surrounded by those that love and celebrate you both.

The Process

    The Brief

    In the order notes send me your outfit and colour palette, your inspiration and personal preferences.
    If possible email me pictures you think are relevant for your custom Bow Tie.

  • Design

    Design

    This service includes 2 rounds of swatches*. From your brief I knit up a selection of swatches and post (for Netherlands based clients) /email them over for you to consider.

  • Feedback

    Feedback

    After considering the swatches I have sent, write all your changes and amends in one email and I repeat the swatch process a last time. Knitting up a new round of swatches for you.

  • Delivery

    Delivery

    After knitting your final design, plus any additional embroidery detail you have chosen for the strap I giftwrap and ship your custom Bow Tie to you in plenty of time for your event.

    Alice knitted me a custom tie for my wedding. She is very collaborative in the process - I went to her studio with the pocket square I wanted to match and we selected the colours and discussed the options together. In the end we went with a matching tie & knot (vs the "signature" contrast knot) but did a second colour on the tail. She also knitted my & my husband's initials into the tie to commemorate the day. It turned out perfectly!

About Alice

Hi, that's me! I am an actress turned unconventional knitwear designer with a penchant for old school glamour, green tea and Bette Davis.
I have been knitting Bow Ties, Suspenders and Ties for Weddings since 2015, every single request is a privilege.

My husband and I organised our own wedding in 2013 and this experience helped shape my wedding services. I strive to offer you a stress free, joyous experience in having a unique accessory handmade for your special day. A custom piece to be treasured and enjoyed for many years to come...just like your marriage.

The Sustainable Choice

I use beautiful, high quality sustainable yarns to make your Bow Tie, Suspenders and more. Many have been saved from landfill, discarded by major fashion houses.
From Merino, Cashmere blends, Organic Cotton, Lambswool and even a new fibre spun from recycled plastic bottles, all are soft, strong and gorgeous.

As Seen In

Virtual or In Person?

I am always happy to meet in person here in Amsterdam and discuss your wedding theme, colour palette and suit choices so together we can create a brief for me to design from.

My garden studio may be too small to host guests but there are plenty of lovely cafes we can choose from.
Alternatively we can meet online using Google Meet, or simply discuss on email. Whichever is your preference, I am happy to oblige.
