Hi, I'm Alice!

I run Wool & Whiskers and Wool & Water from my garden studio in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Fuelled by copious amounts of Matcha and Green Tea, I design and knit every Bow Tie whether it is for your Cat, Dog or you!

I began my professional life as a British TV and Theatre actress, knitting in trailers and rehearsal rooms, at the sides of sets and stages as a way to pass the time. Acting involves a lot of waiting. I cast on and off some of my earliest pieces while in corsets, flares or faux blood stained t-shirts! Before I knew it I was knitting for private clients, independent knitwear labels and designers...and then it was time to start my own label!

Sustainable
I source my Lambswool, Merino, Cashmere and Organic Cotton from small, ethical suppliers in the UK. Most of my wool comes from major fashion houses that are clearing out what they consider dead stock, instead of heading to landfill, it comes to me to be knit into unique Bow Ties.
Joyful
Each Bow Tie I make is designed to spark a smile and spread some joy. Whether at home during a family celebration or on the daily dog walk. Your furbaby deserves all the joy.
Handmade
Each Bow Tie is knit to order by me here in my Amsterdam studio on my vintage and hand-powered domestic knitting machine. I hand-sew each Bow Tie collar attachments too before carefully packaging them (recycled paper stock) and wrapping them to ship to you, wherever you are in the world.
Connection
My knitted Bow Ties help spark connection and conversation, shining a spotlight on the wearer (whether a Cat, Dog or Person) and enabling them be truly seen and appreciated.
